Sony has released a new short trailer for its PlayStation 4 exclusive shooter, The Order: 1886, ahead of the game’s February release date.

The new footage is subtler than previous trailers, this time touching briefly on the game’s unknown demons that lurk beneath the surface. The Order 1886 is principally an action game crammed with cover-shooting, stealth and Quick Time Events, but since its first reveal at E3 in June 2013, its developer has hinted at a supernatural presence too.

In the trailer above, again the game’s unknown presence is acknowledged, but off-camera.

The Order 1886 is set is a quasi-fictional London, with elements from different periods meshed together. Developer Ready At Dawn claims this is Victorian era London, but it includes Zepplins and radios, the former of which belongs in the Edwardian era and the latter of which belongs in wartime.

But it appears that the manipulation of time is a common theme of the game. Players take on the role of Galahad, a member of an elite order of Knights, who Sony says „takes part in a centuries-old war that will determine the course of history forever“.

GameSpot’s latest hands-on preview for The Order: 1886 showed reservations for the game. Critic Mark Walton wrote: „The feeble weapons and slightly iffy cover-system didn’t make the shooting bad as such, but after running through the corridors of that airship, trying to chase down a rebel assailant while fighting off a stream of armed guards, The Order so far just wasn’t hitting the tight, mechanical joys of say a Gears Of War, or a Vanquish.“
